Temperature Profiles and Spectra of Accretion Disks around Rapidly Rotating Neutron Stars
2001 Declaration I hereby declare that the work reported in this thesis titled " Temperature Profiles and Spectra of Accretion Disks around Rapidly Rotating Neutron Stars " is entirely original and has been carried out by me independently in the formed the basis for the award of any degree, diploma, fellowship, associateship or similar title of any University or Institution. To the memory of Pr...
متن کاملLight Curves for Rapidly-rotating Neutron Stars
We present raytracing computations for light emitted from the surface of a rapidly-rotating neutron star in order to construct light curves for X-ray pulsars and bursters. These calculations are for realistic models of rapidly-rotating neutron stars which take into account both the correct exterior metric and the oblate shape of the star. We find that the most important effect arising from rota...
متن کاملUnification to the Pseudo-General-Relativistic Analysis of Accretion Disks around Rotating Black Holes and Neutron Stars
I analyse the relativistic accretion phenomena around rotating black holes and neutron stars and show both the kinds of disk can be treated in an unified manner. The corresponding accretion disks are described by pseudo-Newtonian approach. For this purpose, number of pseudo-Newtonian potentials are in literature, applicable to describe the relativistic properties of accretion disk. While, Kerr ...
متن کاملRelativistic g-modes in rapidly rotating neutron stars
We study the g-modes of fast rotating neutron in the general relativistic Cowling approximation. Our background models take into account the buoyant force due to composition gradients. We compare the Newtonian results of Passamonti et al. (2009) with our relativistic ones and we find an excellent qualitative agreement.
متن کاملA study of accretion discs around rapidly rotating neutron stars in general relativity and its applications to four Low Mass X–ray Binaries
We calculate the accretion disc temperature profiles, disc luminosities and boundary layer luminosities for rapidly rotating neutron stars considering the full effect of general relativity. We compare the theoretical values of these quantities with their values inferred from EXOSAT data for four low mass X–ray binary sources: XB 182030, GX 17+2, GX 9+1 and GX 349+2 and constrain the values of s...
